This #womenshistorymonth, we’ve expanded our VICE Photo Correspondent Project to Refinery29, Inc.. Our first photographer is Ramona Wang. Her work explores how images intervene with our reality and create connections among people and space. The VICE Global Photo Correspondent Project is a collaboration assignment for emerging and visionary photographers from around the world. Our photo correspondents will become the eyes of VICE communicating with authentic images and stories that are a reflection of their lives. Ramona Wang is a lens-based artist based on the internet and New York. Her work explores how images intervene with our reality and create connections among people and space, investigating how we care for each other through photographs.

VICE Media Group has been nominated for two WGA awards! From VICE News, “The Rise of ‘Gas Station Heroin,’” written by Manisha Krishnan, has been nominated in the Digital News category. The piece exposes the danger of the supplement tianeptine, sold under brands like Zaza and Tianaa Red, which is causing excruciating withdrawals, leaving people broke and even suicidal. Krishnan has been cited in numerous new laws being passed or drawn up to combat the issue and is making a real tangible impact. The episode "Emmery," written by Janice Llamoca, from VICE's podcast "Party Crews: The Untold Story" has been nominated in the Audio Documentary category. The podcast explores coming of age in LA's teenage underground party scene and what happens when your safe space isn't always safe. Congratulations to our colleagues!

Congratulations to our colleagues at VICE News on receiving the George Polk Television Reporting Award for “Inside Wagner,” a gripping and definitive look at the group's presence across several continents with a deep dive into the group's operations, personalities, and modus operandi. The award honors VICE News correspondent Julia Steers and producer Amel Guettatfi for their compelling on-the-ground coverage of Russian mercenaries on the Ukraine front and in the Central African Republic. After attempting to interview a witness to Wagner’s human rights abuses in the CAR, Ms. Steers and her crew were seized and held for several hours. Released, they remained for several more weeks before leaving the country. Watch the piece here: https://lnkd.in/erCDYhPE

Over the past six years, VICE TV's "Dark Side of the Ring" has delved into unheard stories from the golden era of professional wrestling – from backstage controversies, to mysterious deaths and unsolved murders. During that time, the show has gathered over 350 interviews spanning over 900 hours. But only 4% of that material has ever made it to air – until now. "Dark Side of the Ring: Unheard" is a weekly podcast series hosted by the co-creators of "Dark Side of the Ring" that explores never-before-heard sound from the show's hundreds of probing interviews with pro wrestling's most fascinating characters. With "Dark Side of the Ring" returning with a fifth season on March 5, "Dark Side of the Ring: Unheard" will drop episodes the following day to give listeners even more context on the subjects from the newest season, including underground icons The Sandman and Chris Colt, larger-than-life legends Harley Race and Sherri Martel, and the day that changed wrestling forever: Black Saturday. Learn more about the podcast and listen to the premiere episode here: https://lnkd.in/dXRDDsuT

Valentine's Day Advice to Reach Youth — Not Committal, Commitment. For previous generations, the steps in a relationship were linear: you met someone, got married, and had kids. For young people today, things are not so straightforward — they have an entirely new mindset when it comes to what commitment means in the first place. Read the latest blog post from VICE Insights as we take a closer look at how the next generation views commitment here: https://lnkd.in/e4zjAAi6 #Love #Culture #Trends #Provocations #Youth
